Margarida Leitão graduated in film editing and has a Master’s Degree in Cinema Project Development- Specialization in Dramaturgy and Direction at ESTC- Lisbon Theatre and Film School. Besides directing, works regularly as editor and script supervisor. Currently teaches film editing at ESTC- Lisbon Theatre and Film School and documentary at ETIC- School of Media Arts and Technology. Her first film won an Special mention at Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival. Directed several short fiction films and documentaries that traveled through festivals worldwide and were exhibited on television. Her films “Wounded” and “Many Days Has a Month” had theatrical release. Her last documentary “Gypsophila” won several national and international awards including the Special Jury Award at the Torino Film Festival. Her new work explore personal and film archive footage, researching the frontiers of audiovisual essay. “Gesture of Realism” appears on the best video essays of 2016 by Fandor.
