Portuguese filmmaker, born in Lisbon in 1947. He started working in Cinema as assistant-director for the film “Perdido por Cem” by António Pedro Vasconcelos (1972) and “Mal Amado” by Fernando Matos Silva (1974). He worked as assistant-director and assistant-editor on the programs Ensaio and Impacto, produced by João Martins for RTP 1 and RTP 2 (1973). After the revolution in April 1974, he directed part of the documentaries for the programs Ensaio and Impacto, shown on RTP 1 and RTP 2, with literary collaborations from Alexandre O’Neill, Álvaro Guerra and Alface (1973 – 1974). He was a founding member of the Cinequipa – Cooperativa de Cinema Experimental (1974 – 1978). He taught editing at the National Conservatory’s Escola Superior de Cinema (1981 – 1987). He worked as an editor on a wide range of Portuguese films. He directed documentaries and fiction, having written the screenplays for all his own films.
