Portuguese filmmaker, lives and works in Lisbon. He started out in Cinema with producer Paulo Branco at Gemini (Paris) and Madragoa (Lisboa), collaborating in films by Manoel de Oliveira, João César Monteiro and Robert Kramer, among others. In 2004, he founded Periferia Filmes which produces and distributes independent film. Producer on the Move 2011, he was appointed by the Instituto de Cinema e Audiovisual (ICA) to represent Portugal at the gathering of film producers organized by the European Film Promotion (EFP) at the Cannes Film Festival. Durante o Fim, his film about the work of Portuguese sculptor Rui Chafes, had its commercial release in 2011. Sem Companhia had its international premiere at the Torino Film Festival, entered the Cinema du Réel competition and won the AIP/KODAK Award for Best Photography in a Portuguese Feature-Length Film at IndieLisboa’10. He is the director of the Festival Internacional de Cinema de Foz Côa (CINECOA), which had its first edition in September 2011.
