Born in Porto, David holds a First class (Hons) Media BA (Catholic University of Portugal), a Directing Diploma (Gulbenkian Foundation/German Film Academy Berlin) and a Screenwriting MA (University of Westminster). He started his career acting as an assistant to Palme d’Or winner Manoel de Oliveira and Turner-winner Douglas Gordon. He has also worked at the BBC. His feature film THE LAST BATH premiered at the Tokyo, São Paulo and Gothenburg Film Festivals. It won a plurality of awards and was ranked in several Best Film of the Year polls by national and international critics. David has written and directed award-winning short films such as HEIKO (Slamdance, RushesSoho, IndieLisboa), L’ARC-EN-CIEL (Fantasporto, Seoul, Milan) and GYPSY (Locarno, Hamptons, SXSW). Bonneville also lectures classes and workshops on Directing, Screenwriting, Performance and Project development at academies and universities across the globe.
