Manuel Mozos, born in Lisbon in 1959. Concluded his degree in Cinema in 1984 at the old National Conservatory (currently the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema). He worked as a video editor, screenwriter and director’s assistant with several Portuguese filmmakers. Actively collaborates with publications, schools, institutes, universities, cultural and cinema associations, cinema clubs and festivals. Since 2002, he has worked at A.N.I.M.- Cinemateca Portuguesa in the identification, preservation and restoration of film. The first film he directed, UM PASSO, OUTRO PASSO E DEPOIS… (1989), won the award for Best Foreign Film at the International Film Festival Entrevues Belfort in 1990. Since that time, he has directed more than 20 films, spanning fiction and documentary, short and feature-length, among which are worth highlighting the feature-length films …QUANDO TROVEJA (1999), XAVIER (1991/2002) and 4 COPAS (2008), as well as the documentaries LISBOA NO CINEMA (1994), CINEMA PORTUGUÊS […]? – DIÁLOGOS COM JOÃO BÉNARD DA COSTA (1996), RUÍNAS (2009), which won several awards at film festivals like FID Marseille and IndieLisboa, and JOÃO BÉNARD DA COSTA – OUTROS AMARÃO AS COISAS QUE EU AMEI (2014). Also, the short film A GLÓRIA DE FAZER CINEMA EM PORTUGAL (2015). His most recent film is the feature-length RAMIRO (2017).
