André Príncipe (Porto, 1976). Studied Psychology at the University of Porto and concluded his degree in Cinema at ESTC in 2001. His artistic practice focuses on the sequencing of images. He has held regular exhibitions since 2004. Among others, his exhibitions have included: Walls at the Centro Português de Fotografia (2005); Tunnels (2005), Smell of Tiger Precedes Tiger (2009) and Master and Everyone (2011) at the Fernando Santos Gallery; Antena 2 at the Pedro Alfacinha Gallery (2014). Recent collaborative exhibitions: Le Bal and Galerie 12 mail in Paris; CGAC – Galician Centre of Contemporary Art, Santiago Compostela, Sapin; Centro de Artes Visuais (Visual Arts Centre) and Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães, Portugal. He has directed short and feature-length films, such as “Traces of a Diary” (with Marco Martins), which won the Jury’s Honorary Award at Documenta Madrid 2011 and was screened at several international film festivals. His latest film, “Campo de flamingos sem flamingos (Som & Fúria)”, was commercially released in 2014. He is founder and co-editor of the Pierre von Kleist publisher. He has published nine books; Tunnels, (Booth-Clibborn Editions, London (2005); Master and Everyone, (2010); I thought you Knew where all of the elephants lie down (2011); Perfume do Boi (2012); Smell of Tiger precedes Tiger (2012); Tokyo Diaries, com Marco Martins (2014); You´re living for nothing now, Book 1,2,3, (2015), all published by PVK.
